We've Arrived

Hello all,

We have safely arrived in Europe!!! We had a relatively uneventful flight over to Europe, but there was very little sleeping on the plane. When we arrived at about 2 a.m. Knoxville time we were ready to START our first day in Paris. It was exciting to be able to see the Eiffel Tower out our plane windows before we even touched down.

We did have an eventful start to our trip once we arrived. One of the kids left their passport on the plane and didn't realize it until we were about to pass through customs. After an hour and a half delay, and an eventful and culturally enlightening stop by the Charles De Gaulle Police Station the passport was found without any students needing to be deported!

After checking into the hotel (with a miniature elevator just large enough for two people or one person and a couple pieces of luggage) we were off to see the Eiffel Tower and the Notre Dame Cathedral. Describing these would be rather wordy, so the photos will have to do. Dinner at Phillipe's (said with a French accent of course) restaurant La Verangue was delicious and some of the boys were figuring out how to make reservations for later in the week. By the end of the first day we have definitely pushed the threshold of human endurance, with ,ost of us completing the day with fewer than 3 or 4 hours of sleep over the past day and a half. We are definitely looking forward to our first Parisian nights sleep! Tomorrow will start with a stop by the Louvre and a visit to the Sacre Coeur Basilica in the evening. Keep praying for patience, endurance, good weather and good decisions.

Photo problems have been solved. Yeah!!!
